The Missing Pets Bureau operates a national Missing Pets Register
and works closely with 12,000 pet care organisations. This includes
major Charities, Rescue Centres, Dog Wardens, the Police and Vets.
Should your pet go missing we will help you to get your Pet back.
We also offer Petback Protect. This provides lifetime protection
for your pet. Should your pet ever go missing we will then transfer
details into the Missing Pets Register free of charge.
INTRO
FROM THE FOUNDER
I started the Missing Pets Bureau 6 years ago when two dogs belonging
to my best friends were stolen. The trauma and upset this caused was
a life changing experience and I made a commitment then to help reunify
pet owners with their four legged friends. Today, the Missing Pets
Bureau has healed many broken hearts by reuniting literally thousands
of pets with their owners while offering support, advice and hope
to those in despair.
By combining the very latest information technology and communications
systems with a team of expert advisors, consultant vets and dog
trainers we offer our thousands of pet owners the very best in pet
safety and hopefully help make this world a safer place for pets.
Founder
dna
identification
Your Dog is the only
one of it’s kind on planet earth!
At the Missing
Pets Bureau we are committed to advising our members on every aspect
of pet protection. When we realised DNA Profiling could be used for
dogs we researched the best way of offering this incredible method
of ID to our members registering for lifetime Petback Protect. Through
the media, DNA profiling has become recognized as a vital means of
positive identification, but many of us wonder what it actually is
and how it works.
We asked our vet, Susan McKay to explain:
“DNA is the stuff’ that stores all our genetic information and each
copy of your dog’s original DNA will be the same. DNA contains the
‘genetic master plan’ for your pet, it cannot be forged or altered.
It is possible to sample a dog’s DNA by wiping a swab against the
inside of the cheek. !
The cells found on the swab will contain your pet’s unique DNA, which
may then be wiped onto a special identity card and sent to the Missing
Pets Bureau to be stored in special conditions.
Combined with the Missing Pets Bureau’s
other services, in the event of theft or an ownership dispute the
DNA may then be analysed to help determine your pet’s identity – distinct
from any other dog on the planet
Three steps to greater safety:
1.Petback ID tag from Missing Pets Bureau - to protect your pet and your identity
2.Microchip from your vet - to provide another secure, but discreet, form of identification
3.DNA identification from Missing Pets Bureau - to provide absolute proof of ownership
sample of a dog's unique DNA
If the worst should happen
and your pet gets stolen and there follows a dispute of ownership
we can arrange for FREE profiling of the stored sample, which can
then be compared with the sample from the ‘found’ dog, this along
with our service will provide proof of ownership.
