FROM THE FOUNDER |
 |
I started the Missing Pets Bureau 6 years ago when two dogs belonging
to my best friends were stolen. The trauma and upset this caused was
a life changing experience and I made a commitment then to help reunify
pet owners with their four legged friends. Today, the Missing Pets
Bureau has healed many broken hearts by reuniting literally thousands
of pets with their owners while offering support, advice and hope
to those in despair.
By combining the very latest information technology and communications
systems with a team of expert advisors, consultant vets and dog
trainers we offer our thousands of pet owners the very best in pet
safety and hopefully help make this world a safer place for pets.

| found
a pet - What should i do? | | React
instantly | | If
you have found a pet that is wearing a Missing Pets Bureau or Petback Protect
Pet I.D Tag there will be a number on the back and you should immediately call
it. | We
will then get in immediate contact with the owners day or night, so pet and owner
are speedily reunited.
If it is not wearing our Pet Id Tag and it is a
dog, you should immediately report the pet you have found (and if necessary take
the dog down) to the local police and dog warden. For a dog, cat or any other
type of pet we would recommend that you contact your local vets, rescue centres
and major charities such as the RSPCA, Dogs Trust, Cats Protection etc. |
| | | |
| Your local dog warden
would come under the control of your local council. Please look in Yellow Pages
or go www.Yell.com.
Unfortunately most dog wardens only work office hours… | Also
please take the pet that you have found to a local vet or similar pet care organisation,
so that the it can be checked for a microchip. If this is implanted the
number can be read by a special scanner, the database registry will be contacted
and the owners can be reunited. | | |
| Please also Register the found pet by
clicking this link. We will then check details
with our own register to see if a similar pet is reported missing. Once you have
done this please also check against our Lost Pet Register on a daily basis to
see if a similar pet has been reported missing. Remember at no time have we seen
the dog or cat, so it very important that you also check our register to ensure
that no opportunity is missed to get that pet back to the owners! |
| | | If
you have found a cat and it looks well cared for, please don’t just befriend it.
It is all too tempting to put food down for a cat or to take it in, when in fact
the cat is not lost – it is simply coming in because it is curious or wants to
say hello! Remember there is probably someone missing that cat! | Please
“blanket display” found pet posters everywhere and also put notes through neighbours
letter boxes. Remember some poor desperate pet owner or child may be terribly
missing or grieving for that missing pet! | You
can also call our Petback 999 One Number service on 0870
1999 999 to be put through to a number of major charities. |
| | | Thank
you for your help… you have taken the first steps to get that pet back home!! |
